More pools completed in 2006

Hi

I have just noticed that I last posted to the blog in July last year - how time flies when you are very busy.

We have built another 6 pools since the last blog and are currently busy on 3 more - one of them a very large project involving the landscaping of a quarry as well as the construction of a 13 x 6 pool.

Here are some details of a few of them:

Pool near Estampes near Tarbres in Dept 65
Pool size 10 x 5 m with Roman End
The pool hopper was built below the water table and needed  constant pumping
Contract value approximately 30,000 Euros HT

Pool at Lougratte, to the north of Villeneuve sur Lot in Dept
Pool size 8 x 4 with Roman End
The pool was built into the side of a steep hill and needed a substantial amount of landscaping, as well as the construction of a retaining wall and access steps
Contract value approximately 27,000 Euros HT

Pool at Sacierges Saint-Martin to the south-west of Argenton sur Creuse in Dept 36
Pool size 13 x 5.5 with Roman End
The installation included an Encloture safety fence, 70 square metres of paving slabs and works inside the existing barn
Contract value approximately 45,000 Euros HT

Pool near Cellefrouin to the north east of Angouleme in Dept 16
Pool size 9 x 4 with Roman End
This pool was built on a very small site and all the excavation arisings had to be taken off- site. The installation included a solar shower, an Encloture safety fence, automatic water top-up, a heat pump for pool water heating and 80 square metres of paving slabs
Contract value approximately 40,000 Euros HT

Pool near Montflanquin to the north of Villeneuve sur Lot in Dept 47
Pool size 13 x 6 with motorised floating safety cover and internal steps
Work commenced in Dec 2006 and is continuing. The project involves the movement of about 1000 tonnes  of  soil, the diversion of a  spring  through a 200 mm drain, a 25 metre long 2 metre high retaining wall, a buried plant room with an internal heat pump and two large 2 metre wide concrete staircases and the upgrading of the fosse drainage sytem
Contract value in excess of 100,000 euros

We are planning to build about 25 pools in 2007 and we have now recruited the manpower required to achieve this target.

We have an order book of about half of our 2007 target in place and so you need to get intouch with us quickly if you want to swim in your new pool in 2007!!

Bluepools launches its new range of pools with an unqualified lifetime structural guarantee

The new website gives a full description of the pools that are insulated to keep the water warmer and allow extended use of swimming pools in France in summer. Roman Ends, covers and top quality components are all now included in the standard Bluepools range of pools.

Jonzac, Charante-Maritime, France October 15, 2005 -- Bluepools has now completed an intensive three year long research project into the best type of swimming pool for its primary market in South West France. The firm intends to extend its installation capacity across France by the end of 2006 now that it has identified the optimimum approach to the provision of very high quality, structurally guaranteed swimming pools that provide the best value for money. The firm is managed by a father and son team of qualified civil engineers and is uniquely capable of analysing the soil conditions at each different sites where it has installed swimming pools and other works. Their research has shown that at 8 out of the 10 sites the subsoil consisted of filled ground or alluvial clay. The limestone rock that dominates the geology of SW France only occured at 2 of the sites. The rock is always there - but invariably at a deeper depth than the foundation of the pool

The proponderance of the fill and clay subsoil has serious implications for the suppliers and installers of kit and liner pools.

They are not suitable in filled ground because of the highly variable weak soil conditions. They are also not suitable for clay soil condition because of the clays tendency to expand when wet and shrink when dry. When a large hole is dug in clay subsoil and a pool is installed, the void around the pool that is normally back filled with gravel by kit installers, will inevitably fill up with water in winter like a buried ditch. The combined swelling clay and water pressure can cause the liner to lift off the pool wall and perhaps even the collapse of the pool walls.

Bluepools now provides a lifetime unqualified structural guarantee on its polystyrene block reinforced concrete pools. There are now a variety of dense polystyrene blocks available in France that are used for the construction of swimming pool walls . The blocks are normally between 1m and 1.5m long, 250 mm wide and 250 mm deep. This allows the construction of pool walls either 1m, 1.25m or 1.5m deep with greater depths provided by a hopper at one end that can provide up to an extra 1m of depth. The blocks are erected on a reinforced concrete footing and then filled with reinforced concrete to provide a very stiff and rigid wall that is very quick and easy to install and is suitable for all ground conditions. But even with these very strong walls Bluepools always installs both sub-pool and wall perimeter drainage in every pool that it builds.

It was a happy co-incidence that the blocks not only provide a very flat and true surface for the liner to lie against but also 100 mm of insulation that makes the pool water warmer and cheaper to heat.
